Singapore: Our Last Stop in Asia

Singapore is our last stop because I was able to get business class seats from Alaska Air using miles. Since the overnight flight to Sydney is almost 9 hours it was too good to pass up. Singapore feels very odd to us. It’s so international that it barely feels like Asia. All the signs are in English and many things have English names like United Square Shopping Mall or Newton Food Centre and most everyone we’ve met speaks English pretty well. As a matter of fact, English is the most commonly spoken language in Singapore. It is also very small with the main island being about 30 miles wide by twenty miles long but is super densely populated (3rd in the world behind Macao and Monaco) with over 8000 people per square kilometer. From our viewpoint it looks like a western city with an Asian population.
