Milan Day Trip. It’s not that Italian

Milano was a weird contradiction and doesn’t feel very Italian to me. Why? It’s pretty modern, people are on-time and in a hurry a lot. They don’t have good coffee. Our guide said they were occupied (a lot) by the French, the Spanish, the Austrians, and many others. As a result, they are more international than many parts of Italy.

The last supper by Lenny da Vinci is amazing even badly damaged. A 20 year restoration was completed in 1999 which really peeled back the layers to reveal more of da Vinci’s original masterpiece
The innovation in the last supper is that it’s an action shot with Jesus speaking about the betrayal
And the apostles reacting to the news. It also has a cool 3D look
It’s neat how subtle it is. Like Judas reaching for the same dish as Jesus which marks him as the traitor
or the knife Peter holds coming out of Judas representing danger
The Duomo is a mixture of styles and took 600 hundred years to complete. I found it overwhelmingly ornamented
All the stained glass was removed during WWII so survived nearby bombs
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was built in the 1800s and was repaired after WWII bombings. It is just a very nice mall
This sculpture L.O.V.E gives the finger to Fascism or bankers. It is in front of the Milan stock exchange a fascist era building
The Roman ruins have mostly been covered up by modern buildings. Ancient meets modern
