Second Home: Our First Week in the UK

We finished our almost 3 months in Europe and are ready to relax in a place that feels like a second home to me. We speak the language and the people and the land are both so welcoming. Our first week was very relaxing, except for left hand driving :-(. Mostly we spent the week in South East England which we had never visited before

This is Beachy Head about an hour south of our cute little village of Tenterden. These white cliffs are much whiter than the dover ones which get some plant growth on them

We visited the Battle Abbey which was built on the site of the battle of Hastings in 1066. Really interesting how one day changed England forever. It could have gone either way.
We visited beautiful Canterbury Cathedral. Had a great talk about the historical meaning of some of the stained glass. One place with 1400+ years history. Amazing!
Our tour guide said the Monks used the hole on the left to get their beer filled
Canterbury was an interesting city. Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norman, and English plus a sprinkling of Vikings and Danes
Karen’s Birthday present was a Falconry/Hawking experience. This was the first of four birds she flew and the biggest
The big four included an American Bald Eagle
A Chilean Blue Eagle (my fav)
A European Eagle Owl
and Karen’s fav, Maggie the hooded vulture
All the flying was on the grounds of Eastwell Manor which was lovely as well
