Mt. Fuji Visit: Good but not great weather

We had seen mount Fuji from Tokyo area on our first trip to Japan but it was early October then and there was basically no snow on it which means it did not look like Fuji-San to me. This time was better in that the mountain was visible and had lots of snow but the cloudy background made it hard to get good pictures. Our schedule also forced a weekend visit which meant lots of crowds on the sightseeing buses. I’m going to give the whole thing a B grade but I’m glad we were able to see it.

Our first view of Fuji from the bus we took into town. The close-up is from the observation deck at the train station. The mountain was out but it was cloudy so it was not as pretty as the postcard pictures but still…

We stayed in the cute resort town of Fujiyoshida to the north of Mt. Fuji. Our Airbnb was brand new and close to the town center.

Japanese towns typically have really good (and not really expensive) food and cute little shrines in random locations

One last look at the iconic mountain. I bet it is glorious on a clear winter day with bright blue skys but it is pretty anytime
