Back in the States: Oahu Hawaii

Even though Hawaii is a very unique place, it is still a genuine state and it feels like it. Oahu is the most populous and least remote feeling island in Hawaii with some parts feeling a lot like Florida (except the mountains). We have been to Hawaii before, but we were very young and it was a work trip so we are looking forward to exploring several of the islands in more detail starting with Oahu

The Arizona Memorial is a moving memorial built over the sunken remains of the battleship USS Arizona and her crew after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. It should be as solemn as any other cemetery but since the tourists don’t see the headstones, they are often disrespectful and I heard laughter several times during my visit
There is a lot of history at the Pearl Harbor Memorial including the submarine USS Bowfin and the battleship USS Iowa

Honolulu and Waikiki Beach are probably the most famous spots in Hawaii but far from the most beautiful (though it is nice)

It’s not all about the beaches on Oahu. The mountains are smaller but still very pretty
