Wellington New Zealand – Last Stop North Island

We stopped at Wellington for a few nights before our ferry crossing to the south island. It is a nice city but a little too big for us. It does have Te Papa Tongarewa, the Museum of New Zealand which is really great. Wellington also has lots of food choices and some cool quirks. It’s not bad for a city.

The highlight of our time in Wellington was the Museum of New Zealand and the highlight of the museum for us was the Gallipoli exhibit by Peter Jackson’s group WETA. The incredibly realistic figures are 12 or 14 feet tall and so detailed. Each tells a story of an individual who was part of the Gallipoli invasion during the first world war like Lieutenant Spencer Westmacott who survived the battle
