Kanazawa and Kenroku-en Gardens

Kenroku-En gardens is supposed to be one of the three great gardens in Japan (along with Koraku-en and Kairaku-en). We are not sure what that even means exactly but it was on our route so we stopped. It is a very beautiful, very large, and very old garden. The garden started in 1676 but the current version is from 1774. Kanazawa itself was a nice mid-size town with a very cool train station

There were lots of meandering steams amongst the trees
The most famous feature of the garden are these very old pine trees. The poles are supports they put up in November to support the trees during winter storms
Kanazawa train station has its own torii gate
And the coolest fountain clock and display I have seen. A very cool train station
